Lana Bode (BMus magna cum laude) is an American pianist who studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Her teachers include Edward Auer, Lisa Emenheiser and Patsy Toh. Lana is based in London and appears frequently in concert both in London and throughout the UK. She has also performed in the United States, France, the Netherlands and Romania. Lana is a frequent performer and successful competitor with experience in a broad range of musical activities. Since she began playing the piano at age seven, Lana has performed regularly in concerts, recitals, master classes and competitions. Her large repertoire includes the study and performance of advanced works by a wide selection of composers.

Lana has won numerous awards for her captivating performances. While still in secondary school, Lana was a winner of the James A. Bland Scholarship Competition for three consecutive years. Lana won first place at the Loudoun Arts Council Excellence in the Arts Piano Competition and was a top prizewinner in the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association Piano Concerto Competition. She was chosen in competition to perform a solo recital at the Alden Music Theatre as part of the 2002-2003 Rising Stars recital series. At Indiana University, Lana developed an esteemed reputation for her performances as a chamber musician and accompanist. She has worked extensively with vocalists, string, woodwind and brass players, including students of Janos Starker, Mark Kaplan, James Campbell, Marietta Simpson and Sharon Robinson.

Lana's love for music has led to an active involvement in community events. While at Indiana University, she worked as an administrative assistant to Edward Auer, a position that included large responsibility in organising the 2008 Chopin Workshop and the Culture/Demain house concert series. She also organised an orchestral concert in which she performed Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major. In secondary school, she was the orchestral keyboardist for the Loudoun Symphony Youth Orchestra, the MasterWorks Festival Orchestra and the Avanti Orchestra. She also performed as a soloist with the Loudoun Symphony String Workshop Orchestra. While at Indiana University, Lana studied harpsichord and fortepiano, and has been the harpsichordist for both chamber music and orchestra performances. She has more than ten years of experience teaching piano lessons. Lana also has experience as a pianist for professional dinner parties, most notably for the faculty and donors of Patrick Henry College in Virginia.

In addition to her musical accomplishments, Lana has a prestigious academic record. Most recently, she won the 2008 Mu Phi Epsilon Musicological Research Contest Award for her paper entitled “A Revolution in French Keyboard Music: Expression and Imagery within François Couperin’s Pièces de Clavecin.” In 2005, Lana was named a National Merit Scholar. She won first place at the Right at Home Essay Contest and second place in the Optimist Club Capital-Virginia District Essay Contest.
